If you’re looking for some great ways to have some fun poolside this labor day, here are some ideas to get you started:
Boat races are a fantastic way to entertain kids and adults alike. Have each racer begin at one end of the pool, and provide them with a plastic boat. In order to win, the racer needs to blow their boat across the finish line. If a racer touches his or her boat, then they have to return to the starting line and begin all over again.
TIP: Alternatively you can use rubber ducks or water balloons and have players push the items from one end of the pool to the other. The catch: they can only use their nose to do it!
For this game, all you need is a rope and an air mattress or floating pool mat. Divide players into two (or more) teams. The first player on each team begins by sitting on the mattress, and he or she must then pull themselves to the other side of the pool using only the rope provided. Out they climb, and player 2 must then climb aboard and pull themselves to the other side. Whichever team finishes first is the winner.
For this game you’ll need two noodles, one air mattress and two willing opponents. Have the players sit on the mattress in the middle of the pool, and provide each with a noodle. The first player to “joust” the other off of the mattress wins!
TIP: You can turn those simple noodles into swords or even lightsabers.
Make up different swim styles or have contestants wear silly outfits as they swim from one side of the pool to the other. The first one to complete all of the laps is the champ!
